PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Panoramic views over the natural beauty of the Hauraki Gulf led to an architectural brief calling for an eco-friendly focus in this Howick residence.

As a two-storey house with large open spaces and windows, the standard solution would have called for steel and concrete; however, to meet the brief, Sullivan Hall successfully designed a timber framed structure utilising attractive glulam timber portals, and long span roof timbers. Even the carport received similar attention, with finely mitred joints of glulam timber beams and posts.

Finally, Sullivan Hall was able to incorporate an eco-friendly, imported internal lining specification into the design of the bracing system to resist the windy beachfront conditions.
